Winford Hooper

March 1, 1940 — August 27, 2023

Winford Franklin Hooper, 83 met Jesus face to face on August 27, 2023 after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. A long time resident of Ooltewah and was a member of Collegedale Community Church and the Helping Hands Ministry. He retired from the City of Chattanooga as manager of Traffic Control after 32 years of service. He was a Navy Veteran. He loved Jesus with every fiber of his being and lived out his faith daily. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. There were no step children in his eyes. He was ALWAYS willing to lend a helping hand and never expected anything in return. Heaven truly gained a saint on Sunday afternoon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters and five brothers.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Sandy Hooper, sons; Eddie Jr (Lisa) Capehart, Chris (Kerri) Capehart, grandsons, Zach (Courtney) Capehart, Chandler (Victoria) Capehart, Conner and Sophie Capehart, great-grandchildren, Eli Capehart, & Brock and Ada Capehart; brother, Denny Hooper (Linda), many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Also two very special people in his life, Gillian and Collin Johnson.

A celebration of life service will be at 2:00, Friday 9/8/23 at Collegedale Community Church, 9305 Four Corners Place with visitation from 1-2. Interment will be for family only at National Cemetery.
