William Peeler

May 27, 1941 — March 21, 2024

William Oliver Peeler, 82, best known as Opie, transitioned to his heavenly home March 21st in Cleveland, TN holding his wife's hand. He was born May 27, 1941 in Englewood, TN to the late Johnny and Bessie "Mae" Peeler. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Michelle Peeler; siblings, JB Peeler, Robert Peeler, and Dorothy Peeler.

Opie retired from Johnson Controls with 28 years of service. He came out of retirement for a year to help with the start up of E&E Manufacturing. Opie could figure out most anything. Johnson Controls sent him to Spain to look at a machine and when it arrived in thousands of pieces he put it back together again. He could build, remodel, plumb, wire, reupholster...whatever needed to be done, he did it. He worked hard all of his life. He took great pride in providing for his wife and family.

Opie is survived by the love of his life and wife of nearly 64 years, Sue Peeler; son Terry (Lynn) Peeler; granddaughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Newman; great grandchildren, Tim, Katie, and Teddy Newman; special niece and her family, Ginger (Randy) Carter, Cassi Walker Hughes, and Caylee Walker. Several sister in laws, brother in laws, and nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

Opie Peeler loved Jesus and was of the Pentecostal faith.

"So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."

2 Corinthians 5:6-8
