Henry Burton Hawkins, 88, lifelong resident of Cleveland passed away Thursday May 23, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Henry enjoyed reading his Bible, gardening, antique tractors and cutting wood. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Gladys “Myrta” Hawkins; and two brothers Edward and Freddie Hawkins.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Wilma Hawkins; a son Myron Hawkins (Donna); daughters, Melanie McClure and Melissa “Lisa” Hicks (Danny); a brother, Ennis Hawkins (Sandy); Sisters, Ruth Ensley (Glen), Betty Bishop, and Irene Reagan; five grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Union Missionary Baptist Church 5pm to 8pm on Saturday, May 25, 2019. A Celebration of life will be on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 3pm with Rev. Jack Epperson and Rev. Larry Humbard officiating. Burial will follow in Union Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
