Charles Greene

Charles J. Greene, 90, of Madisonville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on December 7, 2023.

Charles is survived by his 6 grandchildren, Jessica Farmer of Decatur, TN, Candace Taylor of Reliance, TN, Melody Greene of Cleveland, TN, Alisha Greene of Athens, TN, Devin Greene of Athens, TN, and Judson Greene of Athens, TN, in additional to several great grandchildren, friends and other loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Shirlie Greene, his wife, Joyce Miller- Greene, his children, Tammy Rieser, Charles "Ray" Greene, Melissa Thompson, and Jeffrey "Jeff" Greenall and granddaughter, Autumn Greene- Cogdill, as well as all his brothers and sisters.

Charles was born on October 19, 1933, in Englewood, TN. He married Joyce R. Miller in 1953. After enlisting in the Army and being stationed in Washington State, he was honorably discharged and returned to Englewood in 1959, with the birth of their first son. He spent his career as a Foreman with the Carpenters Local Union for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1995. He had an avid love of fishing and hunting his whole life. He also became an active member of the Church in his later years. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him as tough, but with a soft heart towards many things. He will be missed and remembered fondly.

His arrangements are being handled by Companion Funeral Home in Athens, TN. There will be no formal service, per Charles's wishes. His words were: "I don't want a bunch of people standing around and crying over me". If you knew him, then you know that was "Charlie".

The family would like to thank all his caregivers at Wood Village Nursing Home, in Sweetwater, TN. They took care of him these last 6 months, and they are very grateful for their dedication and kindness.
