Carmen "Eva" Colon

July 29, 1935 — March 15, 2024

Carmen "Eva" Colon was born on July 29, 1935 in Puerto Rico, daughter of Rosendo Fernandez and Rosaura Crespo.

She emigrated to New York City at the age of 16 with her mother and siblings. She met and married Raimundo Colon in 1956. They had five children whom they nurtured in a loving Christ centered home. In 1967 she received her GED and our father encouraged her to continue her education.

Eva completed her masters on May 24, 1979. She became an educator in Paterson, NJ for 15 years and 15 years in Mt. Holly, NJ. She was a beacon of light and witnessed to everyone, and anyone she had the privilege to meet. Her spirit of giving, love and encouragement was contagious.

Her life exemplified the Word of God. We shared her with many who came to love her as a spiritual mother, sister and friend. Truly a woman of God, a servant, a counselor, and leader. She started a ladies prayer group called Mujeres de Dios Guerreras y Valientes with over 20 women at North Cleveland Church of God. She was a devoted prayer warrior that impacted the lives of many forever.

She is survived by her husband Raimundo Colon, children: Ivette Colon, Pete Colon, Debbie & Israel Minay, Sam & Tammy Colon, Luis A Colon (1963-2005) & Lori J Colon, grandchildren: Tony & Rose Millan, Edwin & Janinne Millan, Alejandro & Autumn Colon, Adriana E Colon, Tony Saucedo, Eva B & Carlos Berdecia, Peter Ray & Angie Colone, Paul M & Kayla Colon, Jose E & Melanie Minay, Melissa & Joe Suh, Samuel James Colon, Sarah Echo Colon, Samuel Jr & Amaris Colon, Christian Mari Colon, Luis A Colon, Elijah L Colon, great grandchildren: Maddox Millan, Chase Millan, Anthony Bromberg-Millan, Aydan Millan, Aero Millan, Kai Millan, Brielle Saucedo, Laila Colon, Taylen Colon, Adora Castro, Jose S Minay, Julian Colon, Alex Colon, soon to arrive Sonny R Colon.
