Sarah Steed Byers

Sarah Steed Byers, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 30, 2020. She passed peacefully at home under the care of her family and Hearth Hospice. Sarah was born on November 18, 1938.

Her family was her greatest joy. She was a homemaker until her youngest children were in elementary school. She was incredibly talented and creative in painting, cooking, and sewing.
She was kind and compassionate to everyone in her life. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and prayed for her family without ceasing.

Sarah was a piano accompanist at Wesley Methodist Church, Munsey Methodist Church choir member, and Sweet Adeline’s Quartet member.

She was a dorm mother, taught Nancy Taylor charm courses and later became treasurer of Steed College in Johnson City, TN.

Later in her life, she became a licensed aesthetician and cosmetologist, owning two full-service beauty salon/spas with her children until she retired; one in Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia and the other in Cleveland, TN.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Byers; and her parents, Carlos and Mollie Steed.

She is survived by her children: Becky Byers Davis, Charlie Byers and wife Denise, David Byers and wife Lisa, and Cary Byers; her brother Howard Steed and wife Allison; her grandchildren: Jordan Davis Vecchio and husband Steven, Timothy Davis and wife Gabby, Chad Byers and wife Alicia, Drew Byers and wife Jessica, Cameron Byers, and Kirsten Byers; her great-grandchildren: Kennedy Vecchio, Connor Vecchio, Bailey Byers and Barrett Byers.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Cleveland chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN.
