Ronald E. Smith

On Tuesday, October 27th, 2020, Ronald E. “Ronnie” Smith of Soddy Daisy, TN passed away peacefully at the age of 68.

Born in Hamilton County, TN on March 1st, 1952, Ronnie lived most of his life in Chattanooga and Soddy Daisy. After his education he worked in the antique furniture business. Ronnie could be described as someone who lived life to the fullest. At an early age, his passion for music would lead him to his first drum set. After a lot of practice, and lots of earplugs for those around while he was honing his skills, Ronnie became an accomplished and in-demand drummer. He would play live shows and events for many years, often “rubbing elbows” with some of the biggest celebrities in music. He would also entertain large gatherings with his karaoke business.

When not working or playing music, you would most likely have a difficult time finding him, as he spent many hours and many miles riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. His Harley was a great source of pride to him. Ronnie was also an avid fisherman and classic-car enthusiast. Above all, he was a loving father, grandfather, husband, brother and son.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his former wife, Dorothy Wynn. He is survived by his wife, Melissa Ann Smith, his daughter, Debra Kilpatrick, his son, William Hurst, his stepdaughter, Desi Bump and his stepson, Phillip Bump. He is also survived by his two sisters, Linda Phillips and Donna Coffey and his five grandchildren, Tristan Fullum, Kaiya Wigfall, Serenity Bump, Layla Bump and Leland Bump.

A Celebration of Life service will be held November 14, 2020 at 3PM at 1904 Wilkes Road, Soddy Daisy, TN 37379.
