Roberta Belle "Berta" Powell

Obituary

Roberta Belle Powell, 70, a longtime resident of Riceville, TN went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, August 17th, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Berta was born in Charleston, TN on August 6th, 1944 a daughter of the late Sam Womac and Lillian Walker Womac Waddell. She was of the Baptist faith attended Sanford Baptist Church. Berta loved gardening, taking care of her flowers, but most of all enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest and was always willing to help anyone she found in need.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of forty nine years J. B. Powell, siblings Billy Ray “Bill” Womac, Jessie Pannel “Tommy” Womac, Jerry Glenn Womac and Samuel Mark “Bo” Womac Jr. and one sister-in-law Carolyn Womack.

Berta leaves to cherish her memory two children Tracey Lynn Powell and his wife Lacey and Stacey Dixon and her husband Danny, five grandchildren, Brandon, T.J. and Alahna Powell and Jaxon and Haden Dixon, siblings Clifford Lee Womac (Mary), Taylor Eugene “Gene” Womack, James Allen “Jimmy” Womac, Linda Ann Jones (Charles), Joan Ellen Saunders (Jack), Lon Arnold “Lonnie” Womac and Carl Edward “Eddie” Womac, sisters-in-law, Cora Lee Womac, Carol Womac, Judy Womac and Laura Womac and a special aunt Lena Walker Ballew. She is also survived by numerous other extended family members, church family and a host of special friends.

A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday, August 19th, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Sanford Baptist Church located in County Road 50 in Riceville, TN 37370 with the Reverend Ross Heinricy officiating. Interment will follow in the Womac Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 PM until the 2:00 PM service time.
