Richard "Rick" Shourd

Richard "Rick" Shourd, 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 8, 2017. He was Born April 13th 1954. He retired from Bowaters after 38 years. Rick also served as Secretary of the local Union.
He was member of Big Springs Baptist Church and was a faithful follower of UT football and loved watching the Golden State Warriors basketball. He was avid Traveler and really enjoyed keeping up with all the latest electronic gadgets especially watching his favorite old shows on MeTv.

He was preceded in death by his father, William "Bud" Shourd; mother Clara Shourd; and father in law Wayne Dixon

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Sandra Shourd; sons: Matt Shourd and Brandon Shourd; granddaughter~Hayley Reed; Very special Mother in law ~Ada Dixon; Brother and Sister in law~ Michael and Jerri Shourd; Brother and sister in law~ Alan and Kelley Dixon; Brother and sister in law Alan and Loretta Jones; Brother in law ~Randall Dixon
Nieces and Nephews: Lisa Mcnelly, Jill Jones, Justin Jones, Kristi Dixon, Whitney Dixon, Lauren Shourd, Sara Shourd, Gary Dixon, David Dixon, Hunter Jones, Tristan Jones.

The family will receive friends on Thursday August 10, 2017 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday August 11, 2017 at Companion. Interment will follow the service at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Donny Anderson, Sam Kyker, Mike Henderson, Joe West, James Wooten, Alan Dixon, Justin Jones, and Mat Shourd serving as pallbearers.
