Myrtle Odetta Willhoit

March 18, 1925 — August 23, 2020

Myrtle Odetta Willhoit, 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2020 at her residence. She spent most of her life in Bradley County residing in Charleston and Cleveland. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. She belonged to the ladies quilting circle at Ridgeview Baptist in the early 1950s. She also served as a PTA officer and room mother for all 3 of her daughters during their elementary years at Templeton Hill Elementary School. She was a Sunday school church teacher and a 4-H adult volunteer leader. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren playing sports and showing their dairy cattle and sheep.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Willhoit; parents, Albert and Tessie Cross; siblings, Hubert (Vietta) Cross, Neva (Gene) Pittman, Wilma (Roy) Vineyard, Haldane, (Abe) Forester, Albert Glenn Cross, Jr., Reba (G.W.) Wilbanks, Martha Glenn Cross and Elmer Cross.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Katherine (Virgil) Lamon of Cleveland, Judy Willhoit of Pensacola, FL, and Jeanie Pell of Decatur, TN; grandchildren, Patricia Lamon of Cleveland, Michelle Maxwell of Cleveland, Denise Lamon of Winston-Salem, NC, Eric (Missy) Calhoun of Savannah, GA, and Heather (Sandro) Schaaf of Decatur, TN; great-grandchildren, Joseph (Kassidy) Maxwell of Cleveland, Andy Maxwell of Cleveland, Kyle Maxwell of Cleveland, Josh (Emmie) Brewer of Savannah, GA, Noah Pell of Decatur, TN, and Marlee Schaaf of Decatur, TN; and soon-to-be great-great-grandbaby. She also leaves behind nieces, Sue Kendrick, Brenda Defore, Jetta Caudill, Alma Wilbanks, Mazelle Clark, Becky Gray, Jenna Loveday, & Janis Holmgren; nephews, Tommy Lee Willhoit, Tom Willhoit, Michael Wilbanks, Paul Cross, Jerry Cross, Donnie Cross, Kenneth Forester, and Abe Forester, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland. Additional visitation will be held from 9:00AM until 11:00AM on Thursday, August 27, 2020 in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will begin at 11:15AM at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens located at 1700 S. Ocoee St. in Cleveland with the Reverend Wayne Finnell officiating.
