Mary Shamblin

Mary Ruth Shamblin, 80, of Cleveland, TN passed away on October 18, 2015. She was born on January 12, 1935 to the late Clarence and Irene Epperson Duggan. She was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, gospel singing on television, and talking on the telephone. Above all things, however, she loved helping people. She will always be remembered as a very caring and giving person.



In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Cap Shamblin; brothers in law: Clyde Shamblin, Bill Shamblin, and Jack Shamblin; and sister in law Virginia Jo Carr.



She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter Brenda Gail Gentry (Dwight); brother James McGaha (Geraldine); brothers in law: Thomas Shamblin (Frances), George Shamblin (Becky), and Billy Jake Carr; sister in law Ruth Shamblin. In addition to these, she leaves behind several other nieces, nephews, brother and sister in laws.



A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday October 23, 2015 at Calhoun First Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Cheatem officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until the 2:00pm service time at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Doug Carr, Nathan Davis, Jim McGaha, Jerry McGaha, Jim Duggan and Dave Duggan serving as pallbearers.



In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Calhoun Cemetery Fund.
