Margaret Elizabeth "Libby" Crabtree Frick

Margaret Elizabeth "Libby" Crabtree Frick, 72, of Riceville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 20, 2020, peacefully in her home. A native of Athens, TN, she had resided in Beech Creek, KY for several years before returning to the Athens area in 2003. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, and friend, and she was of the Baptist faith. Libby enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, singing Southern Gospel hymns, playing Rook, and she loved taking drives to the mountains. She also loved her "grand-dogs" Domino and Otis, and enjoyed spending time with them.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, James and Lucille Crabtree of Athens, Tennessee: former husbands Raymond "Hoyt" Shell of Athens, and Charles Frick of Beech Creek, Kentucky: and her sister and brother in law Barbara and Bill Roderick of Calhoun, TN.
Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter in law, Michael "Mike" and Christi Shell of Trinity, Florida: daughter Kathy "Kay" Shell-Whitney of Riceville, TN: sister and brother in law Linda "Gail" and Taylor Perry of Riceville, TN: grandchildren Casey, Jocelyn, Christopher (Britnee), and Matthew (Sydney): great grandchildren Madison, Lily, Phoenix, Fox, and Finnlee. She is also survived by special friends Arkie Maddron of Newport, TN: Shirley Annis of Lenoir City, TN: and Jannie Dillard of Athens, TN, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family: and special caregivers Britnee Goddard of Sweetwater, TN, Kevin Neely of Kingston, TN, and Tiffany and Jeff Densmore of Dalton, Georgia.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Riceville Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, and all the special staff of Hospice of Chattanooga (Athens office) for their kindness, assistance, and support.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 4 p.m. at Companion Funeral Home in Athens, TN, with the Rev. Joe Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m.
