Lois Lee Tipton

Lois Lee Tipton, 84, of Dickson, TN passed away on June 9, 2020. She was born on October 9, 1935 to the late William and Sophie Harrison. Lois was born in Nashville, TN and has been a resident of Dickson County for more than 55 years. She was a loving mother, and “Nanny” who cared deeply for her family and loved nothing more than spending time with them. She will forever be remembered for the joy she found in talking and visiting with family and friends. She was most happy surrounded by those she loved. Lois worked for many years in the cafeteria at Dickson County High School. Most recently she worked at Lifeway Press in Nashville, from where she retired on March 1, 2001 after 11 years of service. Her time at LifeWay was particularly special, as she got to share it with her sister Sue. Lois was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her mother and father she is preceded in death by two sisters: Gene Skipper and Sue Fitzgerald; brothers Wayne Harrison and Bill Harrison; and husband George Kenneth Tipton.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory five sons: Stephen Tipton, Billy Tipton (Marilyn), Kerry Tipton (Deena), Mark Tipton (Lori), and Adam Tipton (Crystal); two brothers: Donald Harrison and Jack Harrison; thirteen grandchildren: Leeann Tipton Sanders, David Tipton (Ashton), Stephen Tipton (Scarlett), Angela Tipton, Andrea Hopwood, Jake Tipton, Kerry Jr. Tipton, Matt Tipton (Becca), Tucker Tipton (Emilee), Payton Cody (Trae), Briar Tipton, Samantha Murrell, and Arin Rowland (Mason). In addition to these she leaves behind eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family will receive friends on Saturday June 13, 2020 from 10:00am-11:00am at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, TN. A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday in the chapel of Springhill Funeral Home in Nashville. Lois will be laid to rest following her service at Springhill Cemetery.
