Linda Ellen Evans

Linda Ellen Evans, 77, a resident of McDonald, TN passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at her home. She was born on August 30, 1942 at Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga, TN. She was the widow of the Reverend Lenzy Lee Evans. At the age of 16, she married Lenzy and with him they served as the Church of God State Evangelist in 5 states and pastored 10 churches in 4 states. Their marriage and ministry together spanned for almost 60 years.

She served on the Mississippi Church of God State Women’s Ministry Board and Girls Club Board. She was skilled as a home interior designer and event planner. In addition to serving her local church as a pastor’s wife, she worked often as a substitute teacher. She was a gracious host who had a servant’s heart, who always put others before herself. She had a love for her family that was incomparable. More than any of the other titles or accolades bestowed on her, she was most proud to wear the titles of Wife, Mom and Nana. Her love for God was demonstrated by her faithfulness to the calling of God on her life. She was willing to follow God and her husband, no matter where it took them. She was a gentle soul and a fierce prayer warrior.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lenzy Lee Evans. Her parents Ollie Ray Carr and Betty Jean Carr. Siblings, Samuel Wayne Carr and Frieda Jane Carr.

She is survived by two sons, Leonard LeRay Evans of Gatlinburg, TN and Larry Lamar Evans (Tiffany) of Olive Branch, MS. Grandchildren Danielle Evans and Lydia Evans. Siblings Donnie Carr (Shirley) of McDonald, TN and Doug Carr (Raleen) of Ringold, GA, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family will be holding a private graveside funeral and a Celebration of Life service at a later time to be announced.
