Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” Clinton Hickman, 75, of Shelbyville, TN passed away on October 20, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Larry was formerly of Cleveland, TN, born here on May 30, 1939 to the late Austin and Hattie (Bean) Hickman. He moved to Shelbyville in 1995 to work as a dairy farmer with his family. Larry was an avid sportsman and also took great pride in his work. He enjoyed participating in cattle shows with his grandchildren, caring for every detail down to selecting the cattle at the sale and purchasing them for the grandchildren. Larry was a member of the Farmers Co-op, The Teamsters Union, Guernsey Association, The Dairy Shrine, and FFA. He was a graduate of Bradley Central High School in 1957. He worked for Central Soya, TNT Plant, Roadway Express, and retired from Diary Farming in December of 2000. Above all things, Larry was very hardworking and a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by two sisters Edna Triplett, Vivian Goodson , one brother Clyde Hickman.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 55 years, Wanda Forest (Caldwell) Hickman; five children: Connie Hickman Eaves, Beverly Hickman, Janice Hickman Manery, Randall Hickman (Ginger), and Mike Hickman; eleven grandchildren: Russell Eaves, Jessica Ozburn (Jay), Whitney Rudolph (Jesse), Cody Eaves (Tiffany), Nathanial Porterfield, Matthew Manery (Ashely), Lucas Manery, Makayla Hickman, Carter Eaves, Austin Hickman, Leslie Mason (Justin), and Robin Eaves; thirteen great-grandchildren: Jayme Ozburn, Forest Ozburn, Colter Eaves, Aiden Rudolph, Kason Ozburn, Kolbie Ozburn, Felicity Rudolph, Henry Poterfield, Trevor Manery, Lauren Mason, Spencer Mason, Olivia Mason, and Dakota Cooper; brother Donald Hickman (Melba) of Georgetown, TN; sister Mary Belle Beaty (David) of Cleveland, TN; a cousin who was like a brother to him, Vaughn Hickman, sons Kevin and Darren and their family of Indianapolis, IN ; in addition to these, he leaves behind several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday October 23, 2014 at Stanfield Baptist Church located at 1549 No Pone RD NW, Georgetown, TN 37336. Rev. David Evans of Georgetown and Dewey Smith of Blankenship United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, TN will be officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00pm-9:00pm on Wednesday October 22, 2014 and from 12:00pm-2:00pm on Thursday before the service. Interment will follow the service in the Stanfield Cemetery with the grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
