Joseph Ruben Hicks

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Dad and Papa, Joseph R. Hicks, age 75, of Cleveland on September 25, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his father, Will Hicks; brother, Harlis Hicks; and sister, Betty Garrison. His survivors include his wife of 49 years, Shannon M. Hicks; mother, Bertha Hicks of Etowah; sons, Joseph M. (Wendy) Hicks of McDonald, Jason (Debbie) Hicks of San Diego, CA; daughter, Jill Allen of Charleston; grandchildren, Nathan Hicks, Jessica (Matt) Gourlay of Athens, Zach (Lily) Hicks of Mountain Home, ID, Emily (Mason) Gaston of Dayton and Jake Allen of Athens; great grandchildren, Trinity, Scotty, Destiny, Bo, Kash and Copeland; sisters, Jane (Tim) Hicks, Alice (Sherman) Derrick, Jessie (Spencer) Melton, Billie (Dave) Bledsoe, Bonnie Hicks and Connie Ramsey; brother LB Hicks; several nieces and nephews; special to his heart, Scott Key, Doug Howard, Terri Wade and Tim Melton.

Special thanks to the staff of Starr Regional Health and Rehabilitation of Etowah and Caris Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held at 2PM on Sunday, September 29, 2019, at Towee Baptist Church in Reliance, TN with Reverends Dave Bledsoe, Kenneth Watson, and Joe Hicks officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
