Joseph Morley Thomas

Joey Thomas passed away in his home on Monday, August 24th, 2020. He was born May 7th, 1983 in Chattanooga, TN to Donna Casteel and Guy Thomas. Joey was a graduate of Cleveland High School.

In 2010, Joey moved to Maine and also lived in New Hampshire for a brief time, before returning to Cleveland in 2019.

Joey was a follower of Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He previously attended Cedar Springs Baptist Church in Cleveland, TN.

Joey enjoyed many hobbies. He loved being outside and enjoyed camping, hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, and swimming. He was a gourmet chef and found joy in cooking for others. Through his work with a landscaping company he learned all about plants, enjoyed growing them, and liked designing landscaping projects. Joey loved animals, especially his adopted stray cat, Alonzo. He also enjoyed reading, working out and lifting weights.

Joey is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe and Kathryn Ball of Cleveland, TN and Morley and June Thomas of Brunswick, ME. He is survived by his mother, Donna Casteel and husband, Ben of Cleveland, TN and father, Guy Thomas and wife, Nancy of Maine; half-sister, Molly Thomas of Maine; prior partner, Melanie Gelinas and their son, Owen Thomas of Berlin, NH; aunts and uncles, Katy and Jimmy Tippens of Cleveland, TN; Aubrey and Lora Thomas of Oklahoma, and Jeanie and Eric Pierce; and several cousins.

Joey will be missed dearly by those who loved him and will be remembered most for his tender heart, his kindness, and his great sense of humor.
