John Walter Welch

John Walter Welch, 76, lifelong resident of Cleveland, TN, passed away January 14, 2023. He was born December 19, 1946, to the late Rev. John S. & Margaret Welch. He was of the Baptist faith, a member of Echoes of Mercy Baptist Church, enjoyed going to gospel singings, and spending time with his beloved dog, Snookie. John also loved watching sports, especially TN football & basketball. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. John retired after serving several years in law enforcement.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Rita Frost, and infant son.

Survived by his loving wife of 47 years and caregiver, Joyce McIntyre Welch; daughter, Michelle (Ryan) Hensley; grandchildren, Austin, Rylan, and Dakota; great-grandson, Jaston; niece, Mary (Tim) Hudson & son Timmy; nephew, London (Tosha) Frost; additional special family, Jeremy & Casey Hewitt, with Mallory; Eric and Shawna Couch, with Zoey and Dillon.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM, Friday, January 20, 2023, in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home, with Pastor Daniel White and Pastor Gary Higgins officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.

While flowers are welcomed and appreciated, Mrs. Welch has requested any monetary donations be made to Companion Funeral Home for Mr. Welch's service.
