James Edward Young

November 11, 1945 — May 22, 2023

James “Jim” Edward Young, 77, of Etowah, TN passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023. He is now walking the streets of gold. He was an electrician and retired from Johns Manville. Jim had a tremendous love for history, the Civil War, and Robert E. Lee. He portrayed Robert E. Lee in many different states and had several reenactments on his farm. He was a jack of all trades but a perfectionist. There was nothing he could not fix. He was a unique and wise man.

Jim is preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Barbara Young; son, Gregory Young; parents, George and Anna Young; and brothers, Claude and Quentin Young.

He leaves to treasure his memory his daughters and their spouses: Rhonda and Nick Black and Chastity and Mick Croft; grandchildren and their spouses: Ryan and Marcey Allen, Trenton Adkins, Hattie Black; and Kaid and Olivia Black; great grandchildren: Jace Allen, Cooper Allen, Aubrey Croft, Josie Croft, Sawyer Crager, and Millie Black; sisters: Joretta Barefield and Bobbie Clendenen; brother, Tommy Young; special friend, Steve Robbins; and wiener dog, Zeb.

The family and close friends honored Mr. Young with a private graveside service on Thursday, May 25, with Ryan Allen, Trenton Adkins, Kaid Black, Nick Black, Tommy Young, Landon Martin, and Keith Aderhold serving as pall bearers, and Mickey Croft and Dennis Young as honorary pall bearers. Steve Robbins officiated.

From his children: Daddy, you are cancer free and no longer in pain. You have your mansion with mommy and our brother. We are going to miss you!
