Gladys Loretta Walker

September 15, 1939 — October 7, 2016

Gladys Loretta Baker Walker 77 of Charleston, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 7 at a local nursing home facility. Born on September 15, 1939 in Polk County but was a lifelong resident of Bradley County. She was a graduate of Charleston High School and married right after on June 26, 1959. She was the daughter of J.C and Stella “Tootsie” Davis Baker. She was of the Baptist faith and last attended Calhoun First Baptist Church. She loved her Sunday School Class and enjoyed the covered dish fellowships. She loved to cook, bake, can and garden. She always had to have her flower garden “so she could watch it grow.” Over the years Gladys worked different jobs, but she retired from a local photo finished business APS to become a proud full-time grandmother. She was the wind beneath her children and grandchildren’s wings. Her grandchildren were the “Lights” of her life and that carried her to the end of her life. According to her, “Being a Grandmomma was the Best Job In The World.”
Gladys was preceded in death by her Parents and a brother Charles “Red” Baker. Survived by her husband of 57 years W. Paul Walker of Charleston, one son Darryl Walker of Georgetown and future daughter-in-law Connie Meredith of Knoxville, one daughter and son-in-law Tina and Mark Bowling of Georgetown. One grandson, Emory Bowling and one granddaughter, Claudia Bowling both of Georgetown. One sister Ruth Clabough and one brother Clifford Baker both of Cleveland. A good friend that was like brother Jimmy Wagner of Cleveland. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
