Gary Lawson

George Gary Lawson, 71, of Decatur died on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at his home. He was the son of the late Hoyt Lawson and Evelyn Marie Collis Lawson.
After his service in the Army (Korea), he returned to Cleveland to begin his career with the State of Tennessee in several parks and ending as Park Superintendent at the Red Clay State Park in its beginning years. He had an exceptional knowledge of early Indian culture and gave many informative programs in the area. He started his next career with the U.S. Forest Service and retired as a law enforcement officer serving Ocoee/Hiwassee ranger dist., Blue Ridge RD, & Jacksonville AL Talladega NF RD.
Survivors include his sons Jason Lawson and Jeremy Lawson and spouse Maureen; Brother Danny (Robin) Lawson; Sister Carol (Glenn) Keith; nephews Daniel Lawson, Tyler (Kim) Keith; nieces Megan (Marshal) Huddleston, Leah Keith Houle, Daneyon Hale; grandsons Issac, Jonathan, Asher and many great nieces & nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, March 15, 2020 from 5:00-7:00PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2415 Georgetown Road NW in Cleveland. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Companion Chapel on Monday, March 16 at 10:00 AM with Lake Walker officiating.
Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors, at a later date.
