Everett "Red" Emory Harris

March 21, 1930 — February 21, 2023

Everett “Red” Emory Harris, 92, of Cleveland, TN passed away on February 21, 2023. He was born on March 21, 1930 to the late Creed and Janey Harris. Everett was born and raised in Cleveland, TN and longtime member of Eastview Baptist Church. He graduated with the class of 1949 from Bradley High School, where he received All-State distinction for his play on the basketball team. These same achievements had him inducted into the “Old Timer’s Hall of Fame.” He retired after 38 years of service with DuPont. He was an avid hunter and was always around to lend a hand with anyone in need. Later in his life, he was a member of the iconic “Table of Wisdom,” at the Hardee’s on 25th street. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a veteran of the United States Army.


In addition to his mother and father, he is preceded in death by his wife Carlean Parks Harris; siblings: Aldean Harris, Joe Harris, Dorothy Graham, Kenneth Harris, and Uva Cofer; son-in-law David Miller.


He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children: Gayla Miller, Elaine Day (Randy), and Mary Ellen Folkner (Dan); sister Betty Flowers; grandchildren: Mark Everett Miller and Carrie Dodson Martin; step granddaughter: Ashely Folkner; great grandchildren: Clinton Creed Martin, Grace Ann Martin, Lydia Nichole Martin, Madison Ellen Ingram, and Annalee Carlean Miller. In addition to these he leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends and special friends Bobbie Shadden and Leon and Dale Dixson.


Red’s family will receive friends from 3pm until 7pm on Monday February 27th at Clingan Ridge Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 7:00pm. Rev. Floyd Boggess will be officiating. He will be laid to rest at 10am on Tuesday February 28th at Eastview Cemetery with a funeral procession leaving from Clingan Ridge Baptist Church at 9:30am. David Hopper, Bryan Cofer, Joe Flowers, Will Harris, Clinton Martin, and Rob Martin will serve as pallbearers. Leon Dixon, Doug Cofer, Dale Elkins, Richard Calfee, and Vernon Graham will serve as honorary pallbearers.


The family would like to extend special thanks to Bradley Healthcare and Rehab and the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for their compassion and care during this time.
