Evelyn Johnson

Evelyn Grayson Johnson, passed away on October 3, 2017. She was born on August 7, 1926. Evelyn Johnson, better known as "Oma EJ" to family and friends, lived 91 years on this earth before she was escorted by angels to her reward. She lived at Cottonwood Farms in a log cabin built by her son especially for her. She was attended lovingly in her home through her last years by those who loved her.
Evelyn was married 33 years to the love of her life, Harold Johnson, until his passing in 2001. They shared many adventures and lived in TN, MS and FL. She retired as a medical technologist after 30 years. She earned her Master's in Science and taught 6th grade Science until her retirement in Lebanon, TN.
She attended Tasso United Methodist Church with her best friend and neighbor, Janet Bacon, for the past 10 years and was an active member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by one son Doug Tamplin and his wife Evelyn O'Daniel Tamplin, one step son Michael Johnson and his wife June, one stepdaughter Janice White, five grandchildren Steven Tamplin (Theresa), Susan Tamplin (Charlie), Cyndi Carroll (Baron), Chad Hamby and Meagan Huebach, seven great grandchildren Caleb Carroll (Kate) Joshua Carroll (fiancé-Kaitlyn Taylor), Tiffany Carroll, Jacob Babcock, Anna Elizabeth Babcock, Christian Tamplin and Abigail Tamplin and five great great grandchildren Mason, Olivia, Liam, Brently and Miles.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Thursday October 19, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, Cleveland, TN 37311.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday October 21, 2017 at 11:00am at Tasso United Methodist Church, located at 1106 Tasso Lane, Cleveland, TN 37312.
