Emily York

Emily Susette York was born February 4, 1957 to Paul Fredrick Slayton Sr. and Dorothea Sivley Slayton in Chattanooga,Tn. She was a graduate of Tyner High School and earned her degree in Medical Assisting later in life. Emily had a passion for writing and had written several childrens books, songs, and poetry. She was a wonderful mother of two and later adopted two of her grandchildren. She spent many years as a homemaker and loved to cook big family meals. Her love for family and friends was remarkable. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Emily married in March of 1978 and is survived by her husband James York of Harrison Tn; her daughter Jennifer (Dean) Davis; her grandchildren Ashlyn (Jayson) Brazier, Kaylee York, Madison York, Austin Davis, Emily (Cade) Lawson, Jackson “Andrew” Davis, Gracie Davis, Tyler Slayton and great grandchild Jackson “Levi” Lawson; her sister Elizabeth (Daniel) Beaty; a brother Pete Slayton; and mother Alice Jewel Slayton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her father Paul Fredrick Slayton; sister Reva (Fred) Curd; brother Tim Slayton; and her son Jason York. Emily went to be with the Lord peacefully on February 11, 2022 at Soddy Health and Rehabilitation Center where she lived for the last few months of her life.

Arrangements for a memorial will be announced at a later date for close family and friends.
