Elmer Hot Shot Burns, 86, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 22nd, 2015 in a local healthcare facility. Elmer had numerous hobbies including riding bicycles, traveling, and bartering; however, he was most known for being a talker and was friendly to everyone he ever met.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Edith McCormick Burns, brothers Pete Burns, Bill Burns, and William Burns, as well as one sister Ruby Bradshaw.
Elmer is survived by his brothers, Carl Burns, Joe Burns, and James (Diana) Burns, on sister-in-law Marie Burns, and several nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends and one very special friend, Edith.
A celebration of life funeral service is planned for Saturday September 26, 2015 at 7:00pm in the Companion Funeral Home chapel, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, with brother Terry Burns and brother Jimmy Burns officiating the service. Music will be provided by Tom Castello and Donna Burns.
A visitation will be held 2 hours prior from 5:00pm until the 7:00pm service time in the chapel.
Services will conclude with interment that will be held on Sunday September 27th, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers include: Tony Burns, Richie Burns, Scottie Burns, Tyler Burns, Houston Burns, Larry Burns, Colton Johnson, and Nick Fairbanks.
