Elaine Johnson

Elaine Johnson, 90, of Cleveland, TN passed away on August 27, 2018. She was born on October 31, 1927 in Cleveland TN to the late Ollie James and June Elizabeth Brewer. Elaine was a lifelong resident of this area and a long time member of Chestuee United Methodist Church. Elaine was very active in her church and taught Sunday School for many years. She worked for 32 years in the Trustee’s office and was a 1946 graduate of Bradley High School. She was inducted in the Bradley County Sports Hall of Fame for Bradley Basketball. Elaine was also voted Most Athletic her senior year in high school and she played on Cass Walker ladies traveling softball team. Elaine also loved the Lady Vols. Above all of these things, she loved spending time with her family and cooking their favorite dishes for them.
In addition to her mother and father she is preceded in death by her husbands Archer Guinn and William Jennings Johnson; ten brothers and sisters; and grandson Caleb Johnson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter June Sullivan (Donnie); sons Kevin Johnson (Terry) and Todd Johnson; grandchildren: Travis Morgan (Candace), Lydia Morgan (Scott), Levi Johnson; great grandchild Kyler Moore. In addition to these, Elaine leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association located at 7625 Hamilton Park Dr, Ste 6, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37421.
The family will receive friends on Thursday August 30, 2018 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Companion Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday at 7:00pm following visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held on Friday August 31, 2018 at Chilcutt United Methodist Cemetery at 11:00am.
