Dr. Roberto C. Rojas

December 10, 1934 — February 17, 2017

Dr. Roberto C. Rojas passed away the evening of February 17th from chronic illness at the age of 82. He received his BA from the University of Chattanooga in 1965, his MA from the University of Kansas (Lawrence) in 1969, and in 1983 his PhD from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). Professor Rojas taught briefly at The Baylor School of Chattanooga. He retired from Hixson High School but continued to teach as an adjunct facility member in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at the University of Tennessee (Chattanooga). He will be missed by his many friends, colleagues, and former students. Dr. Rojas is survived by his longtime companion, Edward Tempel II, and his family in Costa Rica: siblings Theresa, Rodolofo, Guadalupe, and Victoria as well as his many nieces and nephews. In celebration of Dr. Rojas’ life, a ceremony will be held at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) Catholic Church on Saturday, March, 4th at 11:00 AM. The public is invited.
