Dorothy Rhinehart

Dorothy (Kellogg) Rhinehart passed away peacefully at Avail Assisted Living in Cleveland, TN the morning of July 5th 2022. Dorothy was born in Galion, Ohio on December 28th, 1923 to the late Glenn and Estella (Tracht) Kellogg.
Born Dorothy Marie Kellogg, she was preceded in death by her husband Don Rhinehart, daughter Susan Ritzhaupt, parents Estella (Tracht) and Glenn Kellogg, sisters Alice Lucille, Letha (Gerald) Roberts, Vera June Kochheiser, brothers Laurence (Mertie) Kellogg, Harold (Mary June) Kellogg.

Surviving Dorothy are her grandchildren Shannon (Christy) Ritzhaupt of Cleveland, TN and Erich (Sarah) Ritzhaupt of Hendersonville, TN. She loved and adored her great grandchildren, Jackson, Anderson, Ivan and Mason Ritzhaupt.
Dorothy and Don were married for 71 years before his passing in 2015. After Don was honorably discharged from the military in 1946, they built a life together in Galion. They welcomed Susan Kay Rhinehart, their only child in 1948. They loved dancing and socializing and playing cards with their dear lifelong friends. They worked many years together at Galion Manufacturing and were members of First United Church of Christ in Galion. They enjoyed vacationing in Avon Park, Florida and visiting their daughter and her family in Cleveland, TN after their retirement.

In 1999 they relocated to Cleveland to assist and care for their daughter Susan who was a quadriplegia survivor. Don and Dorothy loved and assisted Susan until her death in 2005. They remained in Cleveland where they were fortunate to have many cherished years spending time with their grandsons and their families.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 8th from 3:30 to 5:30pm at Companion Funeral Home at 2415 Georgetown Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Christopher Reeve Foundation in memory of her daughter, Susan.
The interment will be held in Galion, OH on Saturday, July 9th at 2:00 pm. Rev. Bill Meyer officiating at Fairview Cemetery.
