Don Bancroft

February 14, 1937 — March 29, 2020

Lamuel Donnelly “Don” Bancroft, 83, of Bradley County, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 29, 2020. He passed peacefully at home and under the care of Hearth Hospice. He was a lifelong resident of the area and of the Christian faith. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he retired after 23 years of service. He spent his time with family and loved supporting his grandchildren with all their interests and especially enjoyed attending their sporting and artistic events. He may have been Bradley County’s most avid Braves fan, but family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his passion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darius and Estella Ferguson Bancroft; children, Marie Michelle Bancroft; and siblings, Ralph Bancroft, Cletus Bancroft, Delbert Bancroft, Naomi Die, Stacy Bancroft, Jack Bancroft and Essielee Bancroft.

He leaves behind his former wife, friend and loving caregiver, Josephine Burchfield; loving son, Perry (Christine) Bancroft; loving daughters, Donna (Scott) Stephens of Benton, Lisa, (David) Moses of Cleveland and Anna (Ben) Anderson of Cleveland; siblings, Doris Hopkins of Maryland and Genny McFarland of McDonald; and proud papaw of Amber Burks, Addie Moses, Samuel Moses, Amy Williams, Trevor Stephens, Joseph Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Charlotte Bancroft, Marie White; great-grandchildren, Barrett Burks, Ryder Burks, Colton Burks, Remy Kate Burks, Laney Williams, Sawyer Williams, Riley White, Dresdon White, Eli White, Anias White; and several nieces and nephews.

The family also sends a warm and heartfelt thank you to the very special people at Hearth Hospice.

The family will be planning a special memorial event for a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local charity, The Isaiah 177 House in Bradley County at isaiah117house.com. In addition, when having breakfast at Cameron’s, Denny’s or dinner at Monterrey, order a black coffee, and leave your server a special tip in his honor. He sincerely enjoyed visiting these kind people almost daily.
