David Lynn Glass

A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, David Glass, 72, of Cleveland, Tennessee went to be with the Lord April 27th. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
David was born in 1946 to Buster and Ila Mae Glass. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Brenda, for 53 years.
David had an extensive law enforcement background, which began with the Athens Police Department. In the early 70’s David joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol, receiving many personal and professional commendations. David was a patrolman and then transferred to the CID (Criminal Investigations Division, Drug and Auto Theft), retiring in 2003 with 38 years of service. David also taught at many law enforcement academies.
David was a hard worker and great provider. David and Brenda built many homes for families and, along with son Keith, helped neighbors and friends with renovating and fixing, from Athens, to Cleveland, to Ocoee River. He was a mentor to many, a good country cook, feeding and entertaining coworkers, family and friends while sharing stories of past experiences and adventures. David took care of several aging family members. He also enjoyed restoring trucks, cars and classics, such as a classic T-bucket roadster.
In later years, David was often seen with his faithful furry friend, Fearless, a Shih Tzu dog.
David has left a cherished legacy with his family and friends. We are eternally grateful for his well-lived life as a husband, father, grandfather, scout leader, and servant to the community and friends. He made days brighter by offering his positive attitude, witty sense of humor, encouraging words, and helping hands.

David is survived by his loving and caring wife, Brenda Glass; his daughter Shawn Ballew (Jeff); son Keith Glass (Keum); grandchildren Mandy Dixon, Ciera Passmore (Kevin), Maddie Ballew, Kaleigh Glass, and Konner Glass.
David and Brenda attended New Salem Baptist before his illness. A celebration of life will be at New Salem Baptist Church at 175 Ladd Springs Road, Cleveland, TN on Saturday, May 12 th , at 4 PM. David’s friend and pastor, AC Cooper will officiate. David’s granddaughter Mandy will sing, whom he helped for many years with her singing events at prisons, churches and community events. A white dove release will be held at a later date.
