Obituary
Cloyd Woodrow Eddy, 67, of Hinesville, Georgia, formerly of Cleveland, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on December 5th. He was in Hospice care at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, Georgia, and went peacefully, all the while being comforted by his loving wife Shirley.
Cloyd was born in Zanesville, Ohio to Woodrow Eddy, and Beulah Morrison Eddy. He was a graduate of St. Clairsville High School, in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Cloyd started off in the coal mining industry and later transitioned to the trucking industry where he drove for McKee Foods, First Fleet, and Wal-Mart, which is where he would retire from in 2009. Cloyd was proud of the two million plus accident free miles he accumulated during his time on the road.
His survivors include: his beautiful and loving wife Shirley Joan Eddy of Hinesville, Georgia and his special grandson, granddaughter and grandchildren Scott, Virginia, Scotty, Reese and Conner Carpenter , also of Hinesville, with whom he made his home; a son Cloyd “Al” Eddy of Chattanooga; three daughters Amber Hinds, of Lansing, Ohio, Lisa Cayot of Richwood, Ohio and Corina Rushin of Barnesville, Ohio; four sisters: Donna Butler of Texas; Linda Rominger of Lore City, Ohio; Julie Rominger of Freeport, Ohio; and Dianne Theobald of Williamstown, West Virginia; five step children: Jay Thatcher of Kansas; Julie Barnett of Florida; and Joy Bober, Tina Gump, and Jeff Thatcher, all of Ohio. Additionally, he has many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, all of whom he loved.
Cloyd attended many churches, and considered the members of New Salem Baptist Church of Cleveland, Westside Baptist Church of Hinesville, and Westwood Baptist Church of Zanesville to be some of his closest friends.
Viewing will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, at New Salem Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at the church, followed by his burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Flowers can be delivered to New Salem Baptist Church or to Companion Funeral Home, in Cleveland. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Les Feldick Ministries, 30706 W. Lona Valley Road, Kinta, Oklahoma, 74552.
