Brenda Darlene Akins

Brenda Darlene Akins, 71, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at a local healthcare facility. Brenda was a dedicated member of the Church of God who was very active with pastoral ministry. She retired from Maytag/Whirlpool after more than 20 years of service. Brenda loved to read and sing, but most importantly she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
She is preceded in death by her father, Rev. Merrill Akins; son, John Errington; brother, Michael Akins.
Brenda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Tonya Cheatham; mother, Alma Akins; sister, Marsha McKenzie (Charlie); sister-in-law, Sis Akins; grandchildren, Vince Collier and Sierra Collier; Special Aunt, Bea Johnson. As well as several other nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Companion Funeral Home: Cleveland Chapel. The celebration of life service will be held at 4pm in the Chapel. Rev. Gary Sears Will be officiating the service.
