Bob Johnson

April 11, 1947 — July 13, 2020

Bob Johnson, 73 of Chattanooga, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 13, 2020 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Bob worked as a news anchor for News Channel 9 for over 32 years where he was a key developer and producer of “Wednesday’s Child.” In 2014, Bob was inducted into the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame. Bob was a talented musician. He could play just about any instrument. He enjoyed singing with his wife at different events, including fundraisers for the Ronald McDonald House. Bob was a loving husband, father, friend and colleague and will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doyce Johnson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, Rebecca Johnson; mother, Margaret Johnson; son, Michael Johnson; brother, James Johnson; stepchildren, Jason Frazier and Kenny (Chessa) Frazier and Amy (Cody) Green; grandchildren, Myles, Briley, Casson, and Scarlet; and parents-in-law, Fred and Ann Hood.

Due to current circumstances, the family will have a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date. Those services will be announced by Companion Funeral Home of Cleveland.

You are invited to share a personal memory of Bob or your condolences with his family at his online memorial located at www.companionfunerals.com. Companion Funeral and Cremation Service and the Cody family are honored to assist the Johnson family with these arrangements.
