Blyan Townsend, 83 of Cleveland passed away May 2, 2021. He was born May 20, 1937.
He retired from Maytag after 36 years of service in 2000. He was a member of Bellefounte Baptist Church.
He was an avid bowler, golfer and lover of all sports, most notably NASCAR. His greatest love was his family, including his wife of 62 years, Joyce and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that were the joy of his life. He had the distinction of bowling 6 sanctioned perfect 300 games, the last at the young age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marshall and Edith Townsend. Brothers Roy, Ray, Bobby and Ronnie; sister Shirley; great grandson Gage Wellman and lifelong friend Chip White.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; daughters Janet (Rex) Griffith, Diane Blount, Cindy (Terry) Johnson.
Grandchildren Angela (Eddie) Coates, Crissy (David) Graham, Cassie (Elisha) Johnson, Zach Mendenhall, Taylor (William) Wellman.
Great-Grandchildren Cash, Cael, and Coraleigh Coates; Ashlyn, Ava and Weston Graham; Makhi Lindsey, EJ and Xavier Johnson; Taycy and Kolby Wellman.
Sister Thelma Liner, Sisters-in-Law Barbara Turner, Irene (Ronnie) Spears, Brother-in-Law Ray (Sara) Williams and cousin Billy Martin.
Life long friends Lake Walker and Bryan Liner
He also leaves behind a multitude of friends, many of whom were more like family including those he called “son”.
