Billy Ray Nesmith

Billy Ray NeSmith, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. He was born in Eustis, Florida.


Billy served his country honorably as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army, Co. B. 307th Combat Engineers, 82nd Airborne Division and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.


After his military career, he spent much of his life as an owner, operator truck driver and running his business, Valley Awning and Home Improvement. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.


Preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lula NeSmith and his brother, Remer NeSmith.


He is survived by his wife, Terry NeSmith; sons, Tony and Robbie NeSmith; grandson, Cameron NeSmith; brothers, Butch (Kay) NeSmith of Gaston, SC and Wendy (Lynn) NeSmith of Darlington, SC; sister, Diane (George) Adair of Hiram, GE.


Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 10, 2022, Companion Funeral Home, Cleveland, TN, with Craig Wilcox, officiating.


The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM -1:00 PM, prior to the service.
