Betty Marie Rowland

Betty “Marie” Rowland, 60, of Athens, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Starr Regional Medical Center. Marie was a native of McMinn County and was the daughter of the late Glenn Rowland. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church and was a graduate of McMinn Central High School. Marie was in the National Guard and had worked with the horses at Arlington National Racecourse in Arlington Heights, IL.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Roy Rowland, grandparents, Mitchell Rowland, Beaulah Davis Rowland and Bronce Elkins, and Richard and Carolyn Slack, nephew, Jason Brantley, nieces, Stacie Brantley and Emalyne Medders, and brother-in-law, Larry Ulery.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Slack Rowland of Englewood, sisters, Shamra (Greg) Hayes of Athens, Ann (Steve) Chmielorz of Englewood, Susan (Mike Ellis) Wenzel of Knoxville, Carol (David) Brantley and Glenda Rowland, all of Athens, and brother, Frank (Lisa) Rowland of Englewood; nephews and nieces, Dustin (Chelsey) Miller, Amanda (Joey) Millsaps, Cayla (Christian Medders) Jeremy Rowland, Joshua (Sarah) Wenzel, Marty (Jodi) Wenzel, Rick (Stacy) Ulery, Sarah (Eric) Patterson, Tucker and Kash Medders, Melody and Madelyn Miller, Natalie Wenzel, Katie (James) Carroll, and a special aunt, Mary Lynn Slack.

The family will have a small graveside memorial service at a later date.
