Ralph Ownby

Ralph Ownby, 97, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 14, 2017. He was born March 18, 1919, to the late Oscar H. Ownby and Maudie L. Armstrong Ownby. Ralph was a devout Christian and was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and neighbor. Ralph will be dearly missed by all that knew him.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Renner, Margie Stephenson, and Essie Brackin; and brothers, James Ownby, Roy Ownby, and Lewis Ownby.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 66 years, Betty E. Disharoon Ownby; son, Mitchell Ownby, and wife, Janice; sister, Pauline Brackin; two grandchildren, Matthew Ownby and Johnathon Ownby; best neighbors, Jim Gold and Silas Stewart; good friends, Larry and Donna Walters, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service is planned for 1:00pm on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Companion Funeral Home, located at 2419 Georgetown Road NW, with Minister Jeff Archey officiating the service.
The family will receive friends two hours prior, from 11:00am until the 1:00pm service time.
Ralph will be laid to rest following the 1:00pm service, in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery. Dennis Rowe, Tim Disharoon, John Smith, Matthew Ownby, Johnathon Ownby, and Jim Gold will be serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church.
