Landon L. Piatt

August 10, 1966 — July 24, 2016

Landon L. Piatt, Jr. was born in Chattanooga, TN, and lived what he considered to be an exorbitant amount of time there.
He appreciated life’s best things: fast cars, cold beer, good-looking women, loyal dogs, music that moves the soul, and his Lord and Savior. The highways, interstates, and backroads of the continental U.S. were his stomping grounds and secondary education, and he often called a semi-sleeper “home.”
Landon’s childhood nickname was “Mule,” and his strength, endurance, and stubbornness were proven in this most accurate moniker, serving him well in his career as a third generation truck driver.
Even cancer had to put up a staunch fight against his muscle, perseverance, and faith.
In the early Sunday morning hours, similar to so many others he left for the road, Landon carried his last load, Heaven-bound and hammer down, crossing the horizon for that final drop where all the thoroughfares are paved with gold.
He leaves behind his cherished and indomitable wife Katrina, canine kiddos Rex, Rudy, and Bruno, beloved siblings Mike Piatt (Jennifer Cooper), Joan Gagliardi (Peter), Jeff McIntosh (Deborah), as well as a full payload of additional family, friends, and supporters.
Landon’s final advice for us would be to always give, regardless of the cost, so that you are open to receive. But make sure you’re not putting lipstick on a pig.
Earnest gratitude goes out to University Oncology, Aspire Health and Palliative Care, and Hospice of Chattanooga.
A memorial service honoring the life of Landon will be held at Jones Memorial United Methodist Church—followed by a receiving of visitors—on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Their love and compassion during such a difficult time is boundless.
You are encouraged to share a memory of Landon and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial web page and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com.
Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to serve the Piatt family with his arrangements.
