Edith Eliza Scroggins

Edith Eliza Scroggins, 72, of Decatur, TN passed away on September 20, 2016. She was born on April 11, 1944 to the late Leonard and Alice Childs. She was a lifelong resident of this area. Edith loved fishing, cooking, sewing and crocheting, watching soap operas, and enjoying gospel music and preaching. Above all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her great granddaughter Eva Blankenship, her infant sister Edna Childs and a special nephew Jim Bob Childs.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 50 years, Roy Scroggins; children: Marie Totherow, Roy Scoggins Jr. (Debbie), Elaine Myers (Tracy), and Diane Whitener; brother Lloyd Childs; sisters: Ruth Wilson, Stella Herron, Ethel Hemness, and Anna Belle Baker; grandchildren: Timothy Scroggins, Amy Patterson (Jesse), Greg Sanders (Cheyenne), Nick Blankenship (Ashley), Tiffany Thomas (Ryan), Lee Blankenship, Shaun Wright, Bam Bam Myers (Lorie), and Heather Blankenship. In addition to these she leaves behind 12 great grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday September 22, 2016 at Georgetown True Church of God located at 8500 Georgetown Road, Georgetown, TN 37336 with Rev. James Hughes and Rev. Amanda Dyson officiating. Interment will follow the service at McInturff Cemetery. The grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Hank Totherow, Chris Beam, Jesse Patterson, Ryan Thomas, and Jack Cantrell will be honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday September 21, 2016.
