Zeke DeVane Jr. age 98 passed into the arms of his Father with joyful celebration on January 27. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and role model for those who knew him.
He served proudly in World War II as a reconnaissance and intelligence scout riding a Harley Davidson WLA 45 behind enemy lines gathering information for the advance of the Second Armored Division. Severely wounded in Immendorf Germany, he made a pledge to make a difference in the lives of others if the Lord allowed him to live.
After the war he obtained his pilots license which eventually led to a job in the newly organized Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller. During his off time, he volunteered as a coach, announcer, and driver for athletic events. After retirement, he continued a lifelong love of fishing, service to his church, and caregiving for his wife and fishing buddy of 65 years Dorothy Callie Beauchamp.
All who knew him grew to love him as his heart was big enough to share with everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, his parents Zeke Sr. and Frances , as well as 5 brothers and a sister. He leaves behind his sons John DeVane (Ruth), Charles DeVane (Deborah), Jerry DeVane (Jo Lee), grandsons Taylor DeVane (Cayci), Ben DeVane (Joyce), granddaughters Deena Richart (Dan), Karen DeVane (Rick Nowak), Amy DeVane (Jeff Wood), Mary Hertrich (Dennis), Corrine Shelor (David), Lauren DeVane, and numerous great-grandchildren. The family requests
