Yonna Davis

Yonna Jo Davis of Cleveland, Tennessee prayed a simple heartfelt prayer in the emergency room after a serious fall the morning after Christmas. Lord Jesus, show me mercy. Would you please take my hand and walk me into your presence. It was a prayer that her Savior would answer on December 27, 2024.

Born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on April 11, 1938, to parents R.D. and Eva Richards. She was blessed to have had five older brothers, and in her own words...may have been "a little spoiled". Yonna often told her brothers "She was the rose among the thorns". She was preceded in death by her parents and each one of her brothers.

She married Windom Davis in 1956 in Ardmore when he was stationed in the Air Force. They moved to Cleveland in 1968, and they spent 68 years in covenant together.

An animal lover to the core, Yonna was known for taking in stray cats and finding them a good home. She began a career in banking while living in Oklahoma at First National Bank. Once moved to Cleveland she worked at both Cleveland Bank and Trust and First Citizens Bank. Upon retirement she had a total of 40 years in the banking industry.

She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church for 52 years and served as a volunteer in many areas of the church.

She is survived by her husband Windom Davis and son Paul Davis (Connie) all of whom she loved beyond measure. She leaves behind several nieces and nephews along with a host of good friends who meant so much to her during her life.

The most important thing that Yonna would want you to know about her is that she invited Jesus to be her Lord and Savior when she was 18 years old, and he walked with her faithfully all the days of her life....especially when he walked her right into his presence.

Visitation will be held at Westwood Baptist Church Thursday, January 2nd 4-6pm with the Celebration of Life service to follow. Graveside service will be held Friday, January 3rd 10:30am at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
