Wilma Burgess

Wilma Jean Burgess, 87, of Cleveland, TN passed away on February 26, 2025. She was born on September 13, 1937 to the late Edward and Margaret Massengill.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and especially loved lilac and purple flowers. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by her husband Herbert Burgess; three sons: Larry Andrew, Paul Clayton, and Jesse Clyde Burgess.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children: Patsy Redd (Anthony), Peggy Borden, Phyllis Ownby, Lucille Wooten (Benny), Doris Handy, John Burgess; half sister Linda Creel; sisters: Beverly Whiteside and Brenda Lambert; four brothers: Ronnie, Charles, Chuckie, and Stevie Massengill. In addition to these she leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family members and friends.

Wilma's family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm on Monday March 3rd at the "Ridge" Chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2412 Georgetown RD NW, Cleveland, TN 37311. She will be laid to rest at 2:30pm at Lee Cemetery.
