Willie Robert Chapman

Willie Robert Chapman passed away July 3rd, 2023, peacefully in his home in Augusta, Ga. Willie was born Sept 2nd, 1942, in Memphis TN. He is Preceded in death by his Mother Cora Hardiman and Father James Chapman and was raised by his Grandmother Minnie Hardiman, he had a brother and a sister. William met his wife Dr. Marion E. Chapman in 10th grade at Booker T. Washington Highschool. He had two loving sons, William Eric Chapman and Lamont E. Chapman, Two daughters-in-law Rhonda Chapman and Lesia Chapman Grandchildren Dorion Chapman, Montana Chapman, River Chapman, and Journey Chapman. He was married to his loving wife and soulmate, Dr. Marion E. Chapman for 63 years.

He was a Graduate of Lemoyne-Owen college, acquired his Master's Degree from Memphis State University and acquired his education specialist degree from South Carolina State University.

Willie was also a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and the Boule (Sigma Pi Phi fraternity inc. Gamma Pi chapter)

He worked as a chemist at Plough Inc. in Memphis, TN and at Chattem Inc in Chattanooga, TN. In his later days, he worked as a Chemistry professor at Chattanooga State and South Carolina State University.

Willie loved to play cards and loved his family and friends with all his heart and soul.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM-10:00 AM, Saturday, July 15, 2023, At Prospect Baptist Church, 734 Dodson Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404, followed by the service at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
