Willie Hammontree

"Willie" passed away on January 4, 2022 in Chattanooga TN. He was born in Bristol Virginia to William and Helen Hammontree on March 10, 1943. He served in the United States Navy as an Electrician's Mate achieving the rank of Petty Officer Third Class. After serving 4 years, he was honorably discharged and returned to the the Chattanooga area. He completed electrical apprenticeship and started his 50 plus year career with IBEW Local Union 175. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria Joyce Hammontree. He is also survived by his children, Terri, Bill, Leslie, Willie, and Amy. His grandchildren, Johnathon, Stephen, Cloe, Corbin, Reid, Michael, Bennett, Megan, Hattie and great granddaughter Ivy. Also survived by his aunt Peggy Andrews and nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents William Abe and Helen Margaret. His brothers Charles D. and James N. Hammontree. There will be a Celebration of Life to be held later this year.
