William Pruett

June 9, 1940 — May 4, 2024

William "Sonny" Pruett passed away on May 4, 2024 at age 83 in his home with his wife (Donna), son (Tracy), daughter (Deborah) and son-in-law (Gregg) present. He was close to his brother Jere and Jere's family. He loved family very much and they loved him in return.

Sonny was born in Atlanta Georgia, and has been a lifelong fan of Atlanta's sports teams, especially the Braves, Hawks and Falcons. As a young man, he enjoyed swimming , bowling, and drive-in movies. After high school, he joined the Navy and served for 7 years. He met his true love Donna, on a blind date in San Francisco. They were married within a year. Later, Sonny and Donna had a son (Tracy) and a daughter (Deborah). After the Navy, Sonny went on to work in the nuclear power industry and eventually retired from TVA.

Every year, Sonny would take Donna and the kids to see her mother in Sheridan, Wyoming. This fulfilled a promise that Sonny made to Donna when they married. The drive was over 1500 miles each way, and Sonny had a way of making this an enjoyable adventure.

Sonny enjoyed fishing, bowling, golf, playing slot machines, playing Scrabble with family, poker with friends, cribbage and spending time with family and friends. Sonny was a good sport, but always played to win. He loved westerns, and was a big John Wayne fan.

Some words that could describe Sonny would be - Honest, honorable, reliable, thoughtful, caring, romantic, practical, and kind.

He had a life full of adventures and traveled extensively (both in the Navy and later as a tourist). He left this world without regrets and with a positive sense of fulfillment, grateful for the life that he had lead. He will be missed, but will be remembered by those who knew him.
