William McCann

William Donald "Donnie" McCann Jr of Cleveland TN passed away on Sunday Oct. 8, 2023, following complications due to a stroke.

Donnie was born and grew up in Cleveland TN. He attended Oak Grove Elementary School and Bradley High School. He was a Veteran in the Army. He was employed repairing sewing machines and vacuum cleaners. He was handy at fixing many things and even built his own home at one time. His real passion was the side hustle. He loved doing business on the side, often trading things, and selling knives at the flea markets. He would get up at 3 am every Saturday to head to the flea market to get a great spot. He was a resourceful person and a great salesman. He enjoyed fishing and loved the outdoors. He was a great cook and prepared most holiday meals. Donnie enjoyed playing practical jokes on those around him and some of his gag gifts were legendary in the family. If you experienced one of his tongue pops unexpectedly you didn't forget it.

Donnie is survived by his parents William Donald "Don" McCann (Bernice)  and Joyce Guffey McCann-Schneitman (Kenny - deceased). and his four children, William Donnie III (Robin), Misty Forgey (Dooney), Derrick (Amber) and Niki Milligan. He is also survived by the love of his life Anita McCann. He has six grandchildren, Tyler, Megan, Chase, Jacob, Lexi, Paisley, and five great grandchildren, Isaiah, Kaleb, Kayden, Jaxon, and Letty.

He is the oldest of Seven siblings, Robin McCann Phelps, Jeff McCann, Kimberly Shields (Jimmy), Barry Scott McCann, Shane McCann (Cindy) and Hunter McCann (Mikaela). He is preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Esther McCann and Jess and Florence Guffey

Donnie's Services will be on Sunday Oct. 15, 2023, at Companion Funeral Home. The viewing is from 12 to 2 pm with graveside services at 2:30 located at Hayes Shed Cemetery behind Michigan Avenue School.
