William Marion Byers

William Marion Byers, a beloved father, brother, and uncle, passed away in Cleveland, TN, on May 16, 2023, at the age of 65. Born on January 30, 1958, in Knoxville, TN.

William was preceded in death by his parents, James and Velma Byers; his brothers, Donnie and Terry Byers; his sisters, Linda Young, Faye Butler, and Patricia Byers; his significant other Rita Hester and the mother of Christopher and Shannon; and his cherished dog, Peewee. He is survived by his son, Christopher Hester; his daughter, Shannon Byers; his sister, Brenda Moats (Edward); his brother, Charles Byers; and several nieces and nephews, who will all miss him dearly.

As a lover of all things mechanical, William had a natural aptitude for working on cars. It was not uncommon to find William listening to Rock n Roll music while tinkering away on an old car. Fishing was another of William's favorite pastimes, and he could often be found out on the water, casting his line and patiently waiting for a bite. William's love for cooking was similarly undeniable. He enjoyed creating meals for his family and friends. One of William's most enduring and heartwarming relationships was with his sister, Brenda.

A Celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, at 12:00PM at Companion Funeral & Cremation Service in Cleveland, TN. The family will be receiving friends from 11:00PM – 12:00PM. The interment will follow at Beaty’s Chapel Cemetery in Tellico Plains, TN with Pastor Jake Moats to officiate.
