William Lewis Royals

William Lewis “Lew” Royals died peacefully at his home in Ocoee, Tennessee on Monday, July 6, 2020 with family by his side. Born December 26, 1944 in Horry County, South Carolina to Oscar Royals and Maxine Goolsby Royals, Lew was the oldest grandson out of 21 grandchildren to Lewis and Mae Goolsby. He spent his youth in South Carolina and Florida before joining the Marines 1963 during the Vietnam War era. Lew loved hunting, Nascar racing, spending time on the river, and his family. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sherry, he will be missed by so many – including his wife of nearly 40 years, Renie Markert Royals; son Will Brown and his wife Tina, and their 3 children; stepdaughter Shannon Russie and her daughter Jessi, and stepson Brian Reynolds and his son Austin; several great grandchildren; and siblings Dale and Sissy Royals.

The family will hold a Memorial Gathering for William at Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland, TN on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 5PM to 8PM. He will be interred at the Florida National cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.
