William "Bill" Green

William Alexander (Bill) Green, Jr., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Bill was born August 7, 1934 in Polk County, Tennessee.

Bill was a longtime devoted member of Chestuee United Methodist Church. He retired from Bowater after 40 years of service. He also served his country in the United States Army.

Bill enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops with family and friends. He enjoyed deer hunting with his boys, working the farm with the tractor, mowing the yard, driving his Kubota and doing hayrides for the kids at Chestuee United Methodist Church for many years.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Alexander Green, Sr., and Annie Adelaide Green; sisters, Vera Green (Tommy), and Alice Harbison (Charles).

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Joyce Green; children, Connie Green, William "Billy" Alexander Green, III (Libby), Mark A. Green (Kim); grandchildren, Katie Green, Jessica Hartert (Dexter), Haylie Lingerfelt (Brandon), Marcus Green (Amber), Justin Green (Autumn), and Alex Green (Abby); five great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Raymond Allen Simpson; nephews, Steve Harbison (Rita), Chris Harbison (Louise), and niece Debbie Martin.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., at Companion Funeral Home.

A private burial for family, will be held at Mt. Herman United Methodist Church Cemetery at a later time.
