Wesley Eugene "Gene" Scroggins

Wesley Eugene “Gene” Scroggins, 65, a lifelong resident of Meigs County passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Rhea Medical Center. He was of the Baptist faith and a member and deacon of the Grace Baptist Church in Decatur. Gene enjoyed wood working, fishing, going to The Diner and spending time with his family and friends.
He is the son of the late Joseph and Lucille Scroggins. Gene is also preceded in death by three sisters Carolyn Brown, Bobbie Roche and Reba Powers and one brother Joe Scroggins Jr.
Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of forty-two years June Scroggins, two sisters Catherine Moore and Margaret Burnette, two grandchildren Danielle Bates and Johnathan Farris, special nephew Damien Powers, special niece Eva Hughes, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, March 11, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Decatur, TN located on State Highway 58. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM with Pastor Joe Andrew and Pastor Gary Rolen officiating.
The interment and committal service will take place on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM at the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery in Decatur with Chesten Bates, Marcus Grissom, Denzel Webb, Stan Williams, Frank Colbaugh and Teddy Layman serving as pallbearers.
